Key
Responsibilities
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging
classroom environment that supports student learning and well-being
- Plan and deliver secondary sciences instruction
aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes (e.g., junior high and/or high
school sciences)
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to
support conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of
diverse learners
- Integrate technology (e.g., SMART Boards, graphing
tools, online platforms) into science instruction
- Assess and evaluate student progress; maintain
accurate records and communicate effectively with parents
- Prepare course outlines and lesson plans aligned
with curriculum guidelines
- Maintain strong classroom management and a calm,
professional approach in a dynamic environment
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in
staff meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
- Build strong relationships with students, parents,
staff, and the broader community
- Contribute positively to a faith-based, culturally
diverse school environment
Qualifications
& Requirements
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or higher from an
accredited institution (or equivalent), with a focus or specialization in
Sciences (Chemistry, Biology or Physics) preferred
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim
Professional Certificate
- Strong knowledge of secondary sciences curriculum and instructional practices
- Excellent organizational, communication, and
interpersonal skills
- Proven classroom management abilities
- Understanding of current, research-based teaching
strategies in sciences education
- Experience integrating technology into science instruction
- Commitment to inclusive education and student
success
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced,
growing environment
- Experience in a faith-based or culturally diverse
school setting is an asset
