The Role
We are seeking a strictly vetted, 10+ year Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter to lead residential and light commercial sites. You will execute concrete forming, interior wall framing, exterior step rebuilds, high-end interior renovations, and finish carpentry (including interior/exterior door repair and replacement).
Core Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Field Production: Execute concrete forming, framing, layout, interior/exterior door repairs/replacements, wood steps, small decks, drywall sheeting/taping/sanding,casing, baseboard, and trim. You must also be able to accomplish concrete chipping and grinding tasks.
- Secondary Skills (Bonus / Willing to Train): Ability to assist with concrete placing, painting/priming, and drywall taping (pre-fill, applying tape, placing screws, and sanding only). Candidates with validated finishing skills qualify for the upper pay band ($50+/hr).
- Customer Communication: Clear, consistent communication, with our customers. It is your responsibility to communicate your start and end times with the customer daily. The customer must agree and the customers availability is top priority.
- Administrative & Safety Protocols: Complete mandatory daily job site checklists, safety paperwork, hazard assessments, and photo logs via field software.
- You will be required to take online training (paid) to learn our business software.
- Be Prepared: You are expected to come prepared for a full 8 hour day. This includes water, food, appropriate clothing, a full tank of fuel in your vehicle, charged phone, company tablet, wallet, and your tools.
Schedule & Site Perks:
- Flexible Daily Site Start: Choose your site start time between 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM daily. **Pending Customer Approval**
- Site Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week (7 to 8 hours/day on site). A 30-minute unpaid lunch break is mandatory daily (e.g., 7.5 total hours on site yields 7 billable field hours).
- Overtime: Occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required to hit critical project milestones. Overtime is paid after 40 hours a week.
Vehicle & Tool Requirements ( MANDATORY):
- Working Truck Required: Must own a truck in solid working condition. You are required to carry tools and some materials. Large materials like drywall will be delivered.
- Vehicle Compensation: Paid standard government per-kilometre rates for work-related driving (this is TAX FREE!!), PLUS a $1,200 annual vehicle maintenance budget ($100 accrued/released per full month worked, fully bankable—e.g., work 6 full months, accumulated balance is $600 for maintenance/tires.
- Hand Tools (LIST BELOW): Must arrive daily with a complete, professional personal hand tool kit. Power tools, specialty machinery, ladders, scaffolding, and consumables are fully supplied by the company.
Strict Security Requirements:
- Must provide and pass a clean Criminal Record Check upon hire prior to deployment on site.
- Must possess a Red Seal certificate in carpentry.
