The Opportunity
We are seeking a CNC Setter to join our Kelowna-based team full-time. In this role you will be responsible for checking CNC programs, loading materials onto the machine and parts off the machine with multiple QC points. Working on both production nested parts for cabinets and freeform parts for furniture.
You’ll work closely with our design and production departments, reporting to the CNC Technician, and collaborate with a team of skilled craftspeople who take pride in their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as cutting, shaping, and milling architectural millwork components according to provided 3D model and CAM programs.
- Check programs for CNC machines using CAM software (B_Solid / Solidworks / SWood) to ensure accurate and efficient production runs.
- Surveillance of CNC machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Collaborate with the CNC, design and production teams to ensure seamless communication and execution of projects.
- Perform quality control checks on finished components to guarantee adherence to design specifications and high-quality standards.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, following all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Select, prepare, and verify materials for fabrication
- Contribute to continuous improvement and help raise production standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace
Qualifications
- Vocational training or certifications in CNC operations or woodworking is a plus.
- Experience on flat bed CNC machine - Biesse Rover CNC (asset)
- Experience in Solidworks / B_Solid / SWood (asset)
- Experience with compariable CAM software (AlphaCAM / MasterCAM / Woodwop)
- Previous experience as a CNC Setter in the architectural millwork industry or a related field.
- Proficiency in operating CNC machinery, specifically in woodworking applications.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
- Knowledge of different types of wood and wood-based materials used in architectural millwork.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Proven experience working in a millwork production environment
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement (asset)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset with a positive, easy-going attitude
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
