Salary: $58,000 – $65,000
An established and growing organization in the construction and development industry is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join its collaborative accounting team. You'll play a key role in supporting multiple entities while working closely with project managers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure financial operations run smoothly.
Process accounts payable, ensuring invoices are accurately coded, approved, and paid according to payment terms.
Match purchase orders to invoices and maintain accurate job costing information.
Prepare accounts payable forecasts and cheque runs.
Set up and maintain vendor accounts and supporting documentation.
Process accounts receivable transactions and customer payments.
Perform bank account and general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end accounting activities.
Prepare and file GST returns and other government remittances.
Assist with payroll processing and employee benefit administration (training provided).
Maintain inventory, financial records, and filing systems.
Support special projects and assist with general office administration when required.
2+ years of experience as a Junior Accountant, Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper, or in a similar accounting role.
Construction or development industry experience is required.
Experience with Accounts Payable and purchase order matching.
Understanding of project costing and construction accounting processes.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software.
Canadian post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business is considered an asset.
