Kettle Valley Pub is a small neighbourhood pub in Kelowna. Our kitchen is laid-back and team-run, there's no high-stress, "yes chef" hierarchy here. Everyone knows their job and pitches in, and whoever's working the shift keeps things running. We're looking for someone who's comfortable owning the kitchen on their own and works well with a small, crew.
What you'll do
- Cook and plate our menu to a consistent standard during service
- Handle prep, portioning, and keeping stations stocked and ready
- Run the kitchen independently when you're the senior person on shift
- Support and guide the kitchen helpers/cooks when they're stepping up
- Keep on top of food quality, freshness, and presentation
- Manage prep lists, basic ordering, and keeping an eye on stock
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and follow all food-safety standards
- Contribute ideas for specials and menu tweaks (we like input)
What we're looking for
- Solid cooking experience in a pub, restaurant, or similar kitchen
- Someone reliable who can be trusted to run a shift solo
- Calm, steady, and easy to work alongside, team-first attitude
- Able to keep quality consistent when it gets busy
- Valid FOODSAFE Level 1 (or willing to get it)
- Comfortable with the physical side: lifting, hot/fast environment
Nice to have
- Scratch/from-scratch pub cooking
- Familiarity with local Okanagan ingredients and suppliers
- Flexibility for busy summer/tourist season
