Ball Service Group Inc. is a Custom Metal Fabricator with an immediate need for a Laser Operator for our day shift operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the Amada Tube Laser Machine to produce accurate and precise cuts on various materials. This position requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety.
Some of the products BSG manufactures are material handling carts, equipment weldments, machine assemblies, stairs, railings, platforms and conveyor systems.
Candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a competitive and challenging Custom Metal Fabrication environment is preferred.

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform precise cuts on flat sheets of materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum;
- Handle a variety of materials with different thicknesses and compositions;
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications for job orders to determine machine settings and material requirements;
- Use precision measuring instruments such as callipers and micrometers to ensure accurate cuts;
- Load and unload materials onto the laser cutting machine, ensuring proper alignment, and securing of materials;
- Cut round and square tubes with precision, maintaining accuracy and consistency;
- Seamlessly switch between flat sheet and tube cutting modes for efficient manufacturing processes;
- Wipe down, clean, and inspect finished parts to make sure they meet high quality standards;
- Set up and adjust machine settings, including tooling and laser power, for each job;
- Monitor machine operation and adjust as needed to maintain quality and efficiency;
- Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards;
- Perform routine maintenance on laser cutting machine, such as cleaning lenses and replacing parts as needed;
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and optimize performance;
- Operate lift trucks and overhead cranes safely and responsibly;
- Practice good housekeeping methods by keeping the work area clean and clear of obstructions;
- Communicate with supervisors about any material or drawing discrepancies;
- Complete work documentation accurately per company standards;
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by collaborating respectfully with team members;
- Operate plasma cutting equipment to produce accurate cuts on various materials as needed;
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Moderate proficiency operating laser cutting machines and plasma-related equipment;
- Knowledgeable with laser cutting processes and techniques;
- General aptitude reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications;
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers;
- Knowledge of different types of materials commonly used in laser cutting, such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum;
- Proficient with Metric and Imperial measurement systems;
- Must possess good numeracy skills (fractions and decimal places);
- Experience with machine maintenance and troubleshooting;
- Strong material handling skills (the use of lift trucks and overhead cranes);
- Understanding of safety protocols and PPE usage.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Previous experience operating laser cutting equipment preferred;
- Previous experience operating plasma table preferred.
