Big Hearts Home Healthcare is seeking an experienced and reliable Health Care Assistant (HCA) to provide specialized complex care support for a client in Richmond, BC.
The client requires a compassionate caregiver who is skilled in total care, mobility assistance, and wound/VAC care support. This is an opportunity to provide meaningful one-on-one care while helping the client maintain safety, comfort, and independence at home.
Position Details:
- Location: Richmond, BC
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts every Monday, Thursday, and Friday
- Client Type: Total care / Quadriplegic client
Responsibilities:
- Provide total personal care and daily living assistance.
- Assist with mobility using a mechanical lift and support with powered wheelchair needs.
- Support safe transfers, positioning, and mobility routines.
- Assist with bowel care routines, including suppository administration and digital rectal stimulation.
- Provide catheter care, including condom catheter management.
- Monitor and report changes in the client’s condition.
- Support VAC (Vacuum-Assisted Closure) machine monitoring according to care instructions.
- Follow wound care instructions and communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare team.
- Assist with feeding, personal hygiene, and other activities of daily living.
- Maintain accurate care documentation.
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and client-centered support.
Requirements:
- Valid HCA certification and experience with complex care.
- Experience supporting clients with quadriplegia or spinal cord injuries is an asset.
- Experience with:
- Mechanical lifts
- Powered wheelchairs
- Total/complex care
- Condom catheter care
- Bowel care routines
- VAC machine monitoring
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (With own Car) - Must have
- Reliable personal vehicle required.
- Strong communication skills and professional attitude.
- Ability to work independently and provide consistent care.

Pay: $17.94-$38.15 per hour
