Anchor Signs – Mount Pleasant, Vancouver, BC
$25–$35+ per hour depending on experience, technical skills, certifications, flexibility, and employment structure
Anchor Signs is a local sign company that’s been rooted in Mount Pleasant for over 20 years. We’ve built our reputation doing everything from custom fabrication and specialty displays to large corporate installations for companies like RBC, Nike, and others, while still working closely with local businesses around Vancouver that need quality signage built from scratch.
Like a lot of companies, 2020 changed the pace and direction of things at Anchor Signs. But after a couple of busy years, we're growing beyond the capacity of our core team and are looking for a new team member. We’re a small team, we rely on each other heavily, and everyone here has a direct impact on the quality of the work and the direction of the company. For that reason, Anchor Signs wants to encourage a great work environment that has elements of creativity as well as growth of all of our skill sets.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in what they do, wants stability, wants to keep improving, and ideally wants to become part of something long term. This is an opportunity to join a tight-knit company where your work matters, your skills are valued, additional training is encouraged, and we hope that we can inspire you to turn this J.O.B into a career.
THE ROLE
We’re open to candidates with strengths in production, installation, or both.
That said, flexibility matters here. Some weeks are production-heavy, some are install-heavy, and sometimes everyone’s helping wherever needed to get a project across the finish line. We appreciate people who can wear multiple hats, but we also understand flexibility goes both ways. People have families, appointments, trips, obligations, and lives outside of work, and we do our best to accommodate that fairly across the team.
The more experience and versatility you bring, the more valuable you’ll be here, and the more flexibility we can usually offer in return.

If you apply, let us know:
- What materials you’ve worked with

- Any construction or carpentry background
- Any specialty skills that separate you from the average applicant
Strong communication skills are also a plus.

- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Adaptable and willing to jump into different tasks when needed
- Positive attitude and solutions-focused mindset
- Someone looking for more than just a temporary stopgap job
We genuinely want people who are interested in growing with the company. If someone’s motivated, dependable, and invested in improving their skills, we’ll invest back into them as well.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Smartphone with a decent camera
- Any additional skills, hobbies, certifications, or abilities that strengthen your candidacy
SCHEDULE
- Primarily weekday shop hours
- Overtime opportunities will be available for those who want to earn extra income. We pay OT, Double OT and Triple OT which is rare in the sign industry
- Occasional evenings/weekends during major projects are necessary. As stated, we’re willing to be flexible as well, this can mean trading a set of nights to accommodate long weekend trips, family visits, whatever’s required to make it work for everyone.
We work hard, but we also try to be reasonable and flexible. If someone needs time off, has family commitments, wants to trade shifts, or is trying to balance life outside of work, we do our best to make it work fairly for everyone.
HIRING PROCESS
We understand that a lot of good applicants are currently employed elsewhere in the industry, so discretion matters to us.
Every complete application is reviewed by a real person (no AI screening). To be considered, please include:
- A resume
- Portfolio, photos, or examples of your work
If you list a skill or type of experience, expect us to ask about it in detail and potentially ask you to demonstrate it during the process.
The hiring process:
- A brief phone interview
- A video or in-person interview
- Reference checks
- A paid in-shop practical assessment for final candidates
Practical Assessment Details
- The in-shop project is paid
- It’ll be supervised, but mostly independent so we can properly assess your actual skill level
- Our team is happy to answer questions, but we also want to see how you problem solve and work through tasks on your own
- We’re happy to work around your schedule and keep the process discreet if you’re currently employed
We’re not expecting perfection, but if you tell us you can confidently perform a task professionally, we do expect you to be able to back that up.
EXPERIENCE AND PAY
We are open to a range of experience levels, ranging from a starting salary of $25/hr to $35+ /hr. If you bring highly valuable skills or extensive experience, we’re open to discussing compensation accordingly.
Compensation can vary depending on:
- Experience level
- Technical skills
- Certifications/tickets
- Flexibility and availability
- Employment structure
We’re also open to contractor or business-to-business arrangements for the right person. If you currently have your own clients or side work you want to maintain while transitioning into something more long term, we’re open to discussing what makes sense for both sides.
WHY ANCHOR SIGNS?
We’re not trying to be the biggest sign company in Vancouver. We’d rather build a strong crew that enjoys working together, does quality work, and takes pride in what leaves the shop.
If that sounds like the kind of place you’d want to be part of, we’d like to hear from you.
Please send your resume along with any relevant portfolio pieces, project photos, or examples of past work.
