Job Summary:
The Elpida Team Leader is primarily responsible for coaching, mentoring and supervising staff and students. This position provides excellent leadership and oversees the day-to-day operations of the program, monitoring progress of resident and program outcomes, and ensuring public safety as a priority. This position requires a competent understanding of Correctional Service Canada‘s (CSC) rules and regulations as well as Agency policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day program operations
- Lead, mentor, and coach the staff team to meet program outputs and outcomes
- Ensure team is meeting program expectations including but not limited to: adhering to policy and procedures, Occupational Health and Safety requirements and staff training
- Work with the Elpida team to ensure the program is in compliance with accreditation standards, legislative and contractual requirements (CSC)
- Participate in recruitment, posting the positions on Dayforce, conducting interviews and orientation of new staff
- Prepare shift schedules and ensure adequate coverage is in place
- Approve staff timesheets and time off requests
- Schedule and conduct regular supervision and staff meetings
- Monitor, supervise and evaluate performance of staff
- Conduct intake and assessment of new residents
- Provide care to residents with humility, compassion, and respect
- Assist the residents with being productive and successfully reintegrating into society
- Monitor and document resident behaviour and follow up on concerns
- Conduct regular resident case conferences
- Develop service plans for residents
- Work and collaborate with the parole office for the mutual benefit of the resident
- Liaison with community resources and promote positive public relations to the community
- Complete monthly reports and file reviews
- Complete weekly board and care
- Prepare and submit incident reports
- Conduct Offender Management System (OMS) file reviews
- Complete necessary documentation (running records, monthly reports etc.)
- Complete accurate shift exchange
- Participate in training as mandated
- Participate in rotating On-Call supervision system
- Oversee the maintenance of building and equipment according to Agency standards
- Report any required repairs or issues to the Manager of the program
- Participate in monthly Team Leader meetings with Elpida supervisory team
- Other duties as assigned
What This Job Requires:
- Diploma or Degree in Corrections or related discipline
- Two (2) years related experience
- Supervisory experience an asset
- Child Intervention Record Check
- A sound knowledge of various therapeutic addiction counseling theories and available community resources is required, especially in the areas of evaluation of alcohol and drug issues, treatment planning, counseling and education
- Sound knowledge of the following techniques is required: crisis intervention, anger diffusion, conflict intervention and resolution
- Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to confidentiality and privacy
- Must be able to be depended upon to plan and organize work effectively and ensure its completion
- Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, OMS and power point
- Knowledge of and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, professionals, and service providers
