Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Business Development Manager, Toronto Region, is responsible for driving new group business opportunities for Le Germain Hotel Toronto and Le Germain Hotel Toronto Maple Leaf Square. This role is ideal for a highly motivated sales professional who thrives on prospecting, building relationships, uncovering new business opportunities, and growing market share within assigned segments.
The successful candidate will take an entrepreneurial approach to business development, balancing strategic account management with a strong focus on generating new revenue and expanding the hotels' presence within the Toronto market and beyond.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive new group business across both Toronto properties
- Identify, research, and actively pursue new business opportunities within assigned market segments
- Build and maintain a robust prospecting pipeline through outbound sales activities, networking, referrals, industry events, and market intelligence
- Demonstrate strong negotiation skills in working out contractual agreements with potential clients, quoting and negotiating rates within established parameters
- Take a proactive approach to business development through account management, lost business recovery strategies, prospecting within target market segments, and referrals
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities and increase market share
- Maintain personal contact with top producing accounts through regular sales calls, client visits, and strategic account planning
- Conduct site inspections, client visits, familiarization trips, and represent the hotels at industry trade shows and networking events
- Collaborate with revenue and operations teams to maximize occupancy and revenue opportunities
- Create and submit weekly sales reports and monthly updates to the Sales Action Plan
- Enter daily activities in Opera PMS in accordance with Germain Hotels standards
- Represent Germain Hotels in a professional manner that enhances the reputation and positioning of both properties
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
3 to 5 years of progressive hotel sales experience with a proven track record of generating new business
Experience selling group rooms, meetings, conferences, and events preferred
Strong prospecting and relationship-building skills with a hunter mentality
Demonstrated ability to identify market opportunities and convert leads into revenue
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills
College diploma or university degree considered an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and hotel systems such as Opera
Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment

The salary range for this role is between 70 000$ and 85 000$ plus bonus, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
