Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to join our team in Canada. This role is vital in ensuring the efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and maintaining high-quality production standards at our facility in Canada.
The Bag Machine Operator reports directly to the Plant Director. No position reports directly to the Bag Machine Operator however the Bag Machine Operator will support and guide the Bag Tenders as well as assist as needed to get other machines running. Most functions are carried out in support of Customer Service, the Production Scheduler and the Customer.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
The general responsibility of the Bag Machine Operator is to ensure continuous production of quality product in the most time efficient manner possible while keeping waste at a minimum. This position is also responsible for basic equipment maintenance, equipment cleaning and to plan ahead for upcoming orders.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Machine Set Up:
· Ensure that material for next work order is at the machine prior to completion of existing work order.
· Ensure that material available corresponds to material as detailed on the manufacturing order.
· Set up bag machine in the most time efficient manner.
· Reduce waste wherever possible.
· Ensure that chute tenders are occupied when machine is not running.
· Train new employees as required.
Run Machine:
· Ensure machine is running at speed indicated on work order.
· Machine speed on work order is minimum speed required.
· Provide assistance with other bag machines as necessary.
· Provide assistance to chute tender as required based on time availability.
· Ensure that the chute tenders are performing quality checks prior to packing.
· Ensure that the area around the machine is kept clean.
· Perform maintenance on equipment on a regular basis (replace belts, nip roller, etc).
· Perform regular oiling and greasing of equipment as per schedule.
· Identify areas of improvement and/or increased efficiency.
Clean Machine and Surroundings:
· Ensure completion of Machine Pre-operation check (red book).
· Maintain cleanliness around workstation and work area as per Machine Cleaning Procedure.
· Remove and empty all waste containers to their designated bin (recycle brown or white or waste).
BACK-UP:
· Any other available machine operator.
· In many cases, one operator can run more than one machine.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Able to read, write and speak English.
· Have a basic mechanical understanding.
Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
