Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Extrusion Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating extrusion machinery, ensuring product quality, and maintaining efficient production processes. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and familiarity with manufacturing equipment. The Extrusion Operator plays a vital part in delivering high-quality products while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Load raw materials/compounds, into extruders, ensuring a continuous and smooth material flow.
- Continuously monitor extruder running conditions, including temperature, pressure, and speed
- Recognize and respond to deviations from standard operating parameters, promptly reporting any issues to the Production Lead Hand.
- Conduct regular inspections of extruded profiles to ensure they meet quality standards for dimensional accuracy, color, and finish.
- Utilize and maintain measuring equipment, such as calipers to verify that all product dimensions are within tolerance.
- Identify and separate defective products, clearly marking them and communicating issues to the lead hand.
- Pack finished profiles onto buggies, into boxes, or onto skids according to work order or any specifications, , ensuring safe and secure handling. Verify that final products are correctly labeled
- Accurately complete all required production documentation, including line attendant checklists
- Ensure all tasks are performed in a timely manner to meet production deadlines and requirements.
- Perform routine and light preventative maintenance on extrusion machinery and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including the assigned production lines and workstations.
- Maintain housekeeping/cleanliness of your lines and workstation. Clean and prepare workstation and machines as required
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols without exception.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Ministry of Labour regulations and standards.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Production Lead Hand, supervisors, and fellow team members regarding production status, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision to support the overall production needs of the facility.
- Operate a forklift under a valid HR approved license as required

Skills
- High School diploma is preferred
- Minimum Experience: 1-2 years working in a manufacturing/distribution warehouse
- Ability to read blueprints & drawings, production orders, conduct QC checks
- Basic math/computer skills and proficiency in using measuring tools and equipment.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs with the assistance of another employee, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks. Standing/Walking/Bending and Lifting for 8 hours
- Hand-eye co-ordination; Manual dexterity; Ability to distinguish between colors
- Forklift license is an asset
