Taste of Country is seeking an experienced Head Baker to lead our bakery production team in Belleville. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on leader who is passionate about producing quality baked goods and maintaining high production standards in a fast-paced retail bakery.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial bakery experience who enjoys working with a team and takes pride in producing fresh, high-quality products every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake and finish a variety of breads, buns and specialty bakery products.
- Follow established recipes and production schedules.
- Oversee daily bakery production to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency.
- Train, coach and support bakery staff.
- Maintain inventory of bakery ingredients and supplies.
- Ensure all food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standards are met.
- Operate commercial bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with receiving, rotating and storing inventory.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Valid Food Handler Certificate (required).
- Previous commercial bakery experience is required (retail, grocery, production or scratch bakery experience will all be considered).
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Reliable, dependable and able to work independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Leadership experience is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding position. Applicants must be able to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Work comfortably in freezer, cooler and refrigerated environments.
- Work safely around hot commercial ovens and bakery equipment.
- Push and pull loaded bakery racks and ingredient carts.
- Perform repetitive lifting, bending, reaching and twisting throughout the day.
