Overview
We are currently looking to recruit a skilled and dedicated Heavy Duty Equipment Technician / Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidates have their Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician trade. We will review resumes of those certified in Truck & Transport as long as they have experience working on heavy duty equipment used in construction. The ideal candidate(s) is able to diagnose, troubleshoot, assemble, service, repair, and maintain heavy duty equipment. This includes any mobile equipment and attachments used to construct buildings, roads, or highways. This person will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Primary Accountabilities:
· Check all heavy construction equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
· Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
· Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, using hand and power tools.
· Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
· Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
· Service and repair various attachments and working tools such as hydro axe, wrist buckets, winches
· Need to perform repair and maintenance work directional drills, semi-trucks and trailers
· May attach components and make adjustment to new and used equipment
· Perform general shop duties sweeping floors, washing and cleaning equipment, removing garbage
· Assist Technicians in conducting preventative maintenance and repairs
· Create and complete equipment work orders with detailed repair information in an accurate and timely manner
· Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time while adhering to safety protocols
Qualifications:
· Red Seal or Journeyperson certification in a related trade is a a strong asset
· Minimum three (3) years’ experience in heavy duty repairs and maintenance
· Possess a strong work ethic and be consistently punctual
· Willing and able to work longer days and travel out-of-town for extended periods of time as required
· Strong problem-solving and time-management skills
· Ability to work independently and demonstrate a strong initiative
· Ability to communicate effectively with crew members (written and spoken English)
· Ability to multi-task and oversee multiple concurrent work orders
· Have a valid Class 5 license (a Class 3 with Airbrakes endorsement is an asset)
· Have basic computer skills
· Clear Criminal Background Check (may be required for secure sites)
