BAR SERATONINA is a cozy and intimate restaurant bringing unique vibes to Little Italy in Toronto. We serve Italian cuisine with global influences alongside a curated selection of Italian wines. As we prepare to debut on College Street, we are building a passionate and creative BOH team to help create a one-of-a-kind menu that redefines Italian cuisine in our own style.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Head Chef to lead our culinary team and help deliver exceptional dining experiences from day one. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, extensive kitchen management experience, and a deep passion for culinary creativity and excellence. The chef should specialize in Italian cuisine and at least one other cuisine.
As Head Chef, you will oversee all kitchen operations, lead and inspire the BOH team, and play a key role in developing our opening menu. Prior to launch, you will work closely with the owner to create a unique culinary identity that reflects the vision of BAR SERATONINA.
Duties
- Supervise daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Develop menus that reflect current culinary trends while maintaining cost control and profitability.
- Manage food and kitchen supply orders accordingly.
- Oversee food handling procedures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage kitchen budgets effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area in accordance with health standards.
- Lead by example in serving guests with professionalism and hospitality.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in an high end restaurant or hospitality setting
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a high-end professional kitchen
- Experience/knowledge with other cuisine is considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and industry standards
- Willing to try out innovative recipes and concepts and incorporate them into the menu
- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing diverse teams
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene regulations
- Culinary school training or equivalent professional background preferred
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail
