Development Project Manager (Part-Time, Remote-Friendly)
Canopy Housing | Toronto
Canopy Housing is a Toronto-based real estate development company backed by an experienced, well-capitalized team. The group behind Canopy has delivered hundreds of housing units across the City of Toronto, including over 200 units of supportive housing.
We’re hiring a Pre-Construction Manager to support real estate development and funding initiatives. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands municipal processes, approvals, and regulatory environments—and wants meaningful exposure to real projects, not just paperwork.
If you’re organized, proactive, and interested in growing within real estate development, this is a strong place to do it.
What You’ll Do
Development & Pre-Construction Support
- Assist with site evaluation, feasibility analysis, and early-stage development work
- Coordinate with architects, planners, engineers, and other consultants
- Track approvals, submissions, deliverables, and timelines
- Support zoning reviews, municipal approvals, and planning-related documentation
Funding & Regulatory Support
- Assist in preparing grant applications and funding submissions
- Research housing programs at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels
- Track funding criteria and align project materials accordingly
- Help manage reporting and compliance requirements
Coordination & Administration
- Maintain organized project documentation and digital files
- Prepare summaries, briefing notes, and draft correspondence
- Follow up with consultants and stakeholders consistently (should feel less like a task and more like a belief system)
- Laugh at the boss’s jokes. Timing matters.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of experience in real estate development, planning, municipal approvals, or a related field
- Familiar with zoning by-laws, planning processes, or regulatory frameworks
- Administratively strong and detail-oriented
- Clear, concise communicator
- Naturally organized and self-directed
- Ambitious and eager to learn
You don’t need to know everything. You do need to be reliable, curious, and willing to take accountability.
Compensation & Structure
- Part-time: approximately 10–20 hours per week
- Compensation: full-time equivalent salary range of $120,000–$160,000, pro-rated based on hours worked
- Remote-friendly, with occasional in-person meetings in Toronto
Why Join Canopy
