The Job
We are seeking an experienced Material Handling Equipment Operator to support site logistics and material movement in a fast-paced, high-profile event and project environment. In this role, you will safely operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other material handling equipment to move shipping containers, technical equipment, materials, and site infrastructure. You will be responsible for conducting equipment inspections, maintaining equipment readiness, and supporting overall site operations. When not operating machinery, you will assist with general labor duties, material handling, deliveries, and site organization. The ideal candidate will have experience operating equipment on uneven terrain, valid forklift and telehandler certifications, a Class 5 driver's license, and a strong commitment to safety while working in active site environments.

Responsibilities
The Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, and other material handling equipment in a fast-paced site environment. Duties include loading, unloading, and moving shipping containers, materials, and technical equipment, as well as assisting with the positioning of site infrastructure. The role requires conducting daily equipment inspections, monitoring fuel and battery levels, and reporting any mechanical issues to site management. When not operating machinery, the operator will support general labour tasks such as lifting and moving materials, site organization, deliveries, and cleanup. The position also involves maintaining clear communication with supervisors and team members to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate completion of all site activities.
Requirements
Applicants must have proven experience operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in active, high-traffic environments, including forklifts and telehandlers, with preference given to candidates who have worked on sites such as George’s Island, Race Stadium, or King’s Wharf. Warehouse-only forklift experience is not considered sufficient for this role. Candidates must hold valid, up-to-date certifications for forklift and telehandler operation, as well as a Class 5 driver’s license. A strong understanding of basic equipment inspections, including checking fluids, battery levels, and general machine condition, is required. Physically, candidates must be able to perform demanding labour, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working long shifts in varying outdoor conditions. Strong communication skills in English, a professional attitude, and a strong commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.
