This position is based in Prince George, BC.
The
Security Systems Technician Lead will focus on the following as well as other job-related duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Own day-to-day operation and system health for electronic security systems across BC sites, including CCTV/cameras, VMS, access control, intrusion detection, alarms, and related infrastructure.
- Install, program, configure security systems and commissioning, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, intrusion alarms, fence detection system, in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep security systems operating reliably and to minimize downtime.
- Program, configure, and administer security platforms (e.g., access control databases, VMS configurations, alarm panels) including user/access changes, device additions, and system settings.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, firmware/software updates, expansions, and technology refresh initiatives, coordinating outages and change windows as required.
- Monitor system performance and device status; investigate alarms/events, diagnose faults, and drive issues to resolution (including escalation to vendors as needed).
- Coordinate with site operations, facilities, IT, and security stakeholders to ensure security systems meet operational requirements and are integrated with site processes.
- Maintain documentation (as-builts, device inventories, configurations, procedures) and support audits/inspections and internal reporting requirements related to security systems.
- Oversee vendor work and service partners (including service levels, KPI’s, service calls, preventative maintenance visits, quotes, and project execution), ensuring work meets scope, quality, and safety expectations.
- Support the management of companies security system infrastructure asset management database, including development and execution of a Service & Maintenance Plan; Manage and administer hardware, software, and operating systems necessary for the quality, security, performance, availability, recoverability, and reliability of the system
- Maintain product knowledge and certifications in security products and technology to continuously improve processes and/or reduce operating costs.
- Conduct frequent security evaluations and risk assessments of IREN facilities and provide appropriate recommendations for safety and security improvements.
- Lead and coordinate security system upgrades and new deployments, including project planning, scheduling, commissioning, and post-implementation verification.
- Provide technical support during incidents and investigations, including reviewing video, access control events, and alarm history; support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Train clients and end-users on the operation of security systems to maximize their effectiveness and ease of use.
- Maintain accurate records (documentation) of system installations, maintenance activities, and repairs. Prepares, create and executes detailed reports and acceptance test plans to meet SLA's, contract for clients and internal use.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts, audits, and manage RMAs, repairs, replacements, and warranty tracking with vendors.
Travel to all three BC sites as required to support maintenance activities, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and project work.
