Sureshot Ltd. is a Spruce Grove, AB based utility construction company specializing in shallow utility construction. We are looking for a Drop Equipment Operator for the 2026 construction season.
The Drop Equipment Operator will work to safely and efficiently install underground utilities on both public and private property using Mini Excavators, Vibratory Plows, Skidsteers and other machinery as required. Operators must be able to work with laborers, foremen and landowners to install utilities according to client specifications. This position requires substantial physical labor requiring operator to hand dig and use hand tools to restore worksites after construction has been completed.
Candidates should be able to provide own transportation to and from Sureshot’s shop and/or jobsite locations and be able to work 8-12 hours a day, working on a 14 on 7 off rotation. All work is out of town. Hotel accommodations and meals will be provided by Sureshot Ltd.
Wages based on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safe operation of excavating equipment and other tools required for installation and backfill of shallow utilities.
- Using both hand tools and power tools such as tampers, saws, shovels, rakes, tampers, etc., to assist in drop installations.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, complete FLHA’s
- Assist in identifying and correcting worksite hazards.
- Read locates for water, gas, and other underground services.
- Work to ensure safe equipment operating guidelines are met.
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment as required by client, legislation or company policy.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license minimum Class 5, clean abstract, and own vehicle.
- Physically fit and able to bend, kneel, climb, and lift (up to 50 lbs).
- At least 1 year experience operating mini excavators or vibratory plows, or other similar type equipment.
- Experience working with shallow utility installations is preferred.
- Firm understanding of underground locates.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
