Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Cultural Leisure Activities, the jobholder runs ten French conversation workshops for adults at various levels (beginner to advanced) at the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre in Pointe-Claire. Conversation topics are determined based on the group's interests and ideas.
Departmental mission:
The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to offer high-quality services, programs and facilities that promote participation and maximum integration of all Pointe-Claire citizens. The Department relies on a qualified and professional staff dedicated to the quality of life of Pointe-Claire citizens.
General responsibilities and goals:
- Run French as a second language workshops using active teaching methods;
- Create a lesson plan based on the participants' interests;
- Encourage each person’s participation and integration into the group;
- Promote the development of each person's French skills using a dynamic, entertaining and fun teaching style
Job requirements:
- Degree in teaching French as a second language, or any other relevant training
- Experience in teaching in an academic or a non-academic setting
- Fluency in oral and written French
- Listening and good interpersonal skills
- Good organization skills and resourcefulness
- Excellent ability to make knowledge accessible
- Knowledge of English
Schedule:
The class schedule will be determined by mutual agreement between the instructor and the department head. The instructor is allotted fifteen minutes of preparation time per session in addition to the two hours of instruction.
22.5 hours spread across ten workshops (2 hours per workshop / 15 minutes of preparation), between late September and December 2026
