Meter Technician
Location: Victoria, BC
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From CA$25.00 - $28.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Primarily Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Some shifts may begin as early as 5:00 a.m. Rotating weekend work and overtime may be required.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and technically skilled Meter Technician to join our Meter and Maintenance team.
This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and programming parking pay stations; completing scheduled cash collections; and performing general parking facility maintenance. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, technical proficiency, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities.
Comprehensive training on our parking pay station systems and equipment will be provided.
Primary Responsibilities
· Preform preventative maintenance on parking meters, pay stations, and parkade equipment.
· Install parking meters, pay stations, and related components.
· Test, disassemble, repair, adjust, and replace parking equipment as required.
· Diagnose and resolve equipment, software, and communication errors.
· Update and maintain parking meter software and hardware.
· Complete schedule and unscheduled cash collections.
· Maintain accurate task lists and records of outstanding work.
· Perform general pay station, parkade, and parking lot maintenance.
· Operate company vehicles safely, professionally, and courteously
· Follow established schedules, operating procedures, and safety requirements
Required Qualifications
· Computer literacy and familiarity with outlook is an asset.
· Mechanical aptitude and confidence using a variety of hand tools.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and manage an active workload efficiently.
· Computer literacy and familiarity of working with soft wear is an asset.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Must have valid drivers license.
· Ability to provide a satisfactory drivers abstract.
Physical and Work Requirements
· Work outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions.
· Remain calm and effective when working under pressure.
· Perform physical tasks that may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and using tools.
· Work occasional overtime or weekends when operationally required.
