Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable Truck Driver - Class 1 to join our transportation team. This role involves operating heavy-duty vehicles to ensure the safe and timely delivery of freight across various routes. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, knowledge of commercial driving regulations, and experience with heavy equipment operation. A commitment to safety, excellent vehicle handling, and adherence to company policies are essential for success in this position.
Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks for local and long-distance freight deliveries
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and minor repairs, including automotive repairs when necessary
- Assist in securing freight properly to prevent damage during transit
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during operations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and clients regarding delivery schedules and issues
Experience
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Prior experience in commercial driving, freight transportation, or related fields preferred
- Knowledge of forklift operation, heavy equipment operation, and automotive repair is a plus
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to freight handling and heavy equipment use
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance standards
