We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented legal assistant to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, with a primary focus on contested family law proceedings before the Court of King’s Bench.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will take pride in producing careful, accurate work and understand the importance of discretion and professionalism in family law matters. We are seeking an individual who is reliable, organized, and interested in developing long-term skills within a busy litigation practice.
Minimum requirements:
- At least six (6) months’ experience in a legal office;
- High school diploma (legal assistant or secretarial training preferred);
- Strong command of English grammar and written communication;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Ability to manage deadlines and maintain organized files;
- Strong client service skills and professional demeanor;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a professional office setting; and
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Assets (Not Required but Highly Valued)
- Genuine interest in family law litigation;
- Familiarity with The King’s Bench Act and the Court of King’s Bench Rules, particularly Rule 70 (Family Proceedings);
- Experience preparing affidavits, briefs, financial disclosure materials and court filings;
- Experience with PC Law and Teranet; and
- Knowledge of Manitoba Court of King’s Bench filing procedures.

Responsibilities
The Legal Assistant will support counsel in a busy family law practice and will be responsible for:
- Answering telephones and greeting clients in a professional manner;
- Scheduling appointments and managing calendars;
- Opening and closing files;
- Processing payments and preparing statements of account;
- Assisting with the preparation of court briefs and financial disclosure materials;
- Filing and serving court documents; and
- Maintaining organized physical and electronic files.
