We currently have an opportunity for a Full-Time Clinical Manager, Emergency Department. Reporting to the Vice President of Patient Services/CNE, the Clinical Manager, Emergency Department provides managerial and clinical leadership while establishing collaborative working relationships throughout the organization.
The clinical manager is responsible for providing 24-hour accountability by coordinating quality patient care and positive patient experience; promoting and maintaining a professional nursing practice environment; facilitating staff in continuous quality improvement/risk management activities and is a key member in leading and directing hospital projects, committees and programs.
They are responsible for translating decisions of the senior executive into execution, by utilizing relationship management and working with internal and external partners to achieve the necessary outcomes. This role also includes accountability for coordinating Emergency Department Pay for Results (P4R) performance, including leading the development and implementation of action plans, and oversight of performance monitoring and reporting.
The incumbent will be accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. A major focus of the position is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization.
In carrying out the above duties, the incumbent will be fully knowledgeable and committed to understanding and abiding by ARH’s mission, vision, and values while complying with applicable policies/procedures, including, but not limited to, the code of conduct, health and safety, confidentiality/privacy, risk management, and quality improvement.
Qualifications
- BScN or bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
- Current membership with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum of five (5) years of Emergency Department clinical and management experience combined.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of concentration in a busy working environment.
- Proven ability in working effectively with all members of health care team.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Knowledge of budgeting process preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, performance measyrement, or Pay for Results (P4R)/QIP initiatives is preferred.
- Experience with development and ongoing updating of ED program manuals/procedures/policies.
- Experience in managing in a unionized environment is essential.
- Demonstrated Human Resource management skills, which includes:
- Hiring, scheduling, managing performance and managing attendance
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Conducting performance reviews and working with performance related issues
- Ensuring staff have the required training, resources, and support to carry out their roles
- Use software relevant to the position, i.e. Word, Meditech, Epic and other hospital-based computer applications are essential.
- Experience working with healthcare-related project implementations is considered an asset.
Salary range: $128,700.00 - $144,846.00
