Build Projects. Lead Crews. Set the Standard.
At Terrace, we believe exceptional projects are built by leaders who are willing to roll up their sleeves. We are looking for an experienced Working Foreman who enjoys leading by example, mentoring crews, and delivering quality work while remaining actively involved in construction.
This is not a position for someone who simply supervises from the sidelines. Our Working Foremen are hands-on construction professionals who work alongside the crew, solve problems in real time, and help ensure our projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
If you are a tradesperson who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys leading others, and wants to build meaningful projects throughout Alberta, we'd like to hear from you.
About Terrace
Terrace is a project and development management firm providing leadership throughout planning, design, procurement, and construction. Working alongside developers, Indigenous communities, municipalities, institutional organizations, and private sector clients, we deliver multi-family, commercial, healthcare, educational, and community infrastructure projects across Western Canada.
Our culture is built on professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Working Foreman provides day-to-day leadership to field crews while actively participating in construction activities. This role helps coordinate daily work, supports project schedules, maintains quality standards, and promotes a strong culture of safety on site.
The successful candidate will balance hands-on trade work with leadership responsibilities while helping ensure projects are completed on time and to Terrace's standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead crews by example while working alongside them in the field.
- Perform trade work while coordinating daily activities and production.
- Support the Site Superintendent in implementing daily and weekly work plans.
- Communicate priorities and expectations clearly to crew members.
- Coordinate work with subcontractors and assist with day-to-day site logistics.
- Operate and oversee the safe use of construction equipment including telehandlers, skid steers, company vehicles, and trade-specific tools.
- Promote and enforce Terrace's Health & Safety Program and Alberta OH&S requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, orientations, and hazard assessments.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality before progressing to subsequent stages.
- Monitor productivity, identify site challenges, and develop practical solutions.
- Coordinate materials, deliveries, equipment, and site resources.
- Maintain organized, clean, and professional job sites.
- Build positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and fellow team members.
What We're Looking For
- Journeyperson certification or significant construction trade experience.
- Previous experience as a Foreman, Lead Hand, or Crew Leader.
- Strong understanding of commercial or multi-family construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and Alberta OH&S legislation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience operating common construction equipment safely.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Experience with Procore is considered an asset.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
