About the role:
This role is ideal for an experienced credit leader looking to join a driven, entrepreneurial team. As Senior Manager, Credit Operations – Prime Underwriting, you will lead a team responsible for credit adjudication, operational excellence, and a responsive, high-quality experience for brokers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director, Credit Operations – Prime Underwriting, you will lead underwriting and fulfillment activities, oversee key external partnerships, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, and team performance. Your leadership, judgement, and attention to detail will be critical as you scale operations while maintaining credit discipline, service standards, and a solutions-oriented partner experience.

Your contributions will include:
Credit Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of Underwriters and Fulfillment Specialists managing adjudication and fulfillment activities.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to drive performance, consistent judgement, and a positive team environment.
- Monitor productivity, workflow, turnaround times, and service standards to ensure efficiency, responsiveness, and consistency.
- Coach the team to deliver clear communication, professional issue/escalation resolution, and a positive service experience for brokers and internal partners.
Credit Expertise & Decisioning
- Deliver strong credit outcomes in every interaction, balancing credit discipline with a strong service mindset.
- Evaluate exception opportunities, package and submit requests as needed, and provide guidance on investor and insurer policy interpretation.
- Manage escalations and complex files with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgement while supporting strong broker and partner relationships.
Operational Excellence
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase productivity, and improve the underwriting and fulfillment experience for brokers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams, including Treasury, Risk, IT and QA, on projects, audits, reporting, and operational improvements.
- Maintain disciplined processes, policy adherence, training standards, and regulatory compliance across the team.
- Help the team achieve high standards for communication, service consistency, and broker responsiveness throughout the underwriting process.

- Complete all mandatory training, specifically:
- Regulatory
- Privacy
- Compliance and risk management
- AML/ATF
- Quality Assurance
- Act always in accordance with Strive’s risk appetite as defined by the RMUP
Confidentiality:
- Maintain employee, customer and partner confidentiality as described by Strive’s Employee Handbook.
You will bring:
- Minimum 7+ years of mortgage experience in the broker channel.
- Minimum 2+ years in a management role in the broker channel.
- Post secondary degree or diploma required.
- Strong leadership, coaching and organizational, and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of residential lending practices and products, with an emphasis on broker originations and credit decisioning.
- Ability to assess risk, exercise strong judgement, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to build relationships, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively in high-pressure situations.
- A collaborative, accountable, and adaptable approach, with a strong desire to learn and grow.
