Position Overview
We are hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for projects located in Kelowna and surrounding areas. This role requires operating various heavy machinery to assist in the construction and maintenance of civil utility and earthwork projects.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, skid-steers, and loaders to perform construction tasks including digging, grading, and loading.
- Conduct pre-operational checks to ensure machinery is in good working condition.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
- Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and survey markings to execute work as per project specifications.
- Excavate and backfill structures safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for all team members.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.
- Maintain accurate logs and reports of equipment usage and project progress.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in interpreting drawings and understanding project specifications.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and show initiative in various situations.
- Self-motivated and dependable, with a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, and skid-steers.
- Valid driver's license and personal transportation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and equally motivated working independently.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Compensation:
- Salary: $33.00 - $40.00 per hour, based on experience.
