Walden Child Care is a newer centre and is a light, bright, beautiful centre in the neighbourhood built to look like a very large home among other homes. We are Reggio-Inspired, and use an Emergent Curriculum. We have grown into 8 classrooms and 125 children. We have a huge staff room and a gym. We have an amazing solid team of mostly level 3's in every room, many have diplomas or degrees in ECE, and are passionate about the work they do. They are fun loving and supportive to one another, as is our management team.
We are looking for someone who is looking for a change from the classroom to more of an all around jack of all trades. If you are a laid back, self starter, easy going person who can problem solve effectively, this it the role for you. The position includes the following:
- Cover program planning (2 hours a day, some days not at all) - if you like, you can plan activities as well for your time covering, or just go with the flow of the classroom that day.
- Cover breaks (2 hours a day) and ratios at the end of the day.
- Cleaning / organizing: storage rooms, clean staff room and bathroom, clean lobby & bootshelves at the end of the day (1 - 2 hours a day) or whatever else you see that needs doing. There is lots of freedom to take initiative and create cleaning and organizing projects throughtout the centre!
Tasks are flexible and change daily. If staff call in sick and relief are unavailable, this person jumps in where needed. You should be someone who has the whole centre in mind and is okay with last minute changes.
The shift is 9 - 6 with a one hour break Monday-Friday.
