What you will need to understand:
The Jig Designer creates custom manufacturing tools, focusing on 3D modeling, precision tolerancing and production efficiency.
Renumeration based on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design custom jigs, fixtures, gauges and holding tools using CAD software
- Create complete 3D models and detailed 2D production drawings
- Ensure designs are foolproof, safe for operators and cost-effective to build
- Prepare bills of material and select standard hardware components
- Review customer requirements and participate in design reviews
- Troubleshoot and revise designs based on shop floor and quality control feedback
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, mechanical technology or a related field
- 2-5+ years of experience in tooling or fixture design within a manufacturing setting
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Understanding of machining processes, metal properties and workshop fabrication techniques
- Positive work ethic
- Get it done - on time! Attitude.
- Strong English communication skills
