Job Summary
The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machining equipment to manufacture, repair, or modify metal components according to shop drawings, specifications, and work orders. This role requires precision, attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to maintain quality and efficiency within a manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machining equipment
- Machine parts to required dimensions and tolerances
- Read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and work orders
- Measure and verify finished parts using precision measuring tools
- Perform drilling, boring, milling, turning, threading, and cutting operations
- Modify and repair existing components as required
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials
- Perform routine machine maintenance and inspections
- Monitor machine performance and identify issues
- Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality
- Verify dimensions and tolerances meet specifications
Qualifications
- Previous machining experience operating manual lathes, milling machines and CNC equipment
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Knowledge of machining practices and metal properties
- Valid driver's license
- Journeyperson Machinist certification
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to life up to 50lbs
- Frequent bending, lifting, kneeling and reaching
- Ability to safely work in industrial shop conditions
