Panelboard - Mechanical Assembler
Day Shift : 7.00 am - 3.30 pm
Afternoon Shift - 1:30 pm to 10 pm ( ALL TRAINING WILL BE DONE ON THE AM/ MORNING SHIFT )
Reporting to the Production Supervisor at our Milton facility, the Mechanical Assembler is responsible for reviewing manufacturing documentation and performing mechanical assembly, fitting, installation, and modification of prefabricated components, sub-assemblies, and structures using both hand and power tools. This position may also take on a lead role for low to moderate complexity builds, providing guidance to other assemblers while ensuring work meets quality standards and compliance requirements.
We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Assembler (Panelboard Assembler) to join our team. In this role, you will be part of a skilled production group responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing mechanical components into custom steel switchboard enclosures.
This opportunity is best suited for individuals with intermediate to advanced assembly experience who are comfortable working with technical drawings. While this position does not include electrical wiring, it requires strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with tools, parts, and assembly equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or support assembly builds of low to moderate complexity
- Provide direction and support to junior assemblers while maintaining quality standards
- Read and interpret engineering drawings (mechanical only) and Bills of Materials
- Utilize 3D model viewing tools and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Assist in other departments as needed based on production requirements
- Verify parts and materials against requirements and resolve discrepancies
- Escalate drawing or documentation issues through appropriate channels
- Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust issues identified during inspection or testing
- Assemble products in accordance with CSA and UL standards
- Maintain accuracy and flow within internal KANBAN processes
- Ensure consistency in assembly methods across similar builds/orders
- Perform visual and functional inspections before and after assembly
- Clean and prepare completed units for testing
- Conduct performance checks and make necessary adjustments to meet quality expectations
- Support packing and shipping tasks as required
- Operate fixtures, gauges, and hand/power tools safely and effectively
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mechanical assembly within a manufacturing setting
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and assembly instructions
- Hands-on experience using various hand tools and power tools
- Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs on your own and up to 50 lbs with assistance, following proper lifting techniques
- Must reside within 30 km of Milton, ON (no relocation assistance provided)
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without present or future sponsorship
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in assembling or repairing mechanical components/products
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices and Six Sigma tools
- Basic computer knowledge, including exposure to systems such as Oracle or similar ERP platforms
- Ability to support, mentor, or train team members when needed
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail
- Involvement in continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and safety programs
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Good analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and basic mathematical abilities
