Overview
The Cargo Ground Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of cargo for air transport. This role involves working inside aircraft cargo compartments and in areas around aircraft, ensuring all cargo is properly handled, loaded, and secured in compliance with safety and operational standards.
The position includes receiving, inspecting, documenting, storing, and preparing cargo for loading onto aircraft and delivery vehicles. The Cargo Ground Handler ensures that all cargo operations are carried out in accordance with company procedures, aviation safety standards, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining effective coordination with operations personnel and customers.
This position requires proven experience in aircraft cargo handling and/or large cargo operations, including the movement of heavy, oversized, or specialized freight in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform aircraft cargo handling and/or large cargo operations, including heavy and oversized freight
- Receive, unload, and store incoming cargo safely
- Prepare and verify cargo documents (airway bills, manifests)
- Load, unload, and dispatch cargo for scheduled flights
- Ensure proper cargo handling, securing, and weight distribution
- Coordinate with pilots, operations, and ground staff
- Operate cargo handling and ground support equipment safely
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of cargo areas
- Follow all company procedures, safety standards, and Transport Canada regulations
- Work in and around aircraft cargo compartments
- Respond to operational changes and special handling requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in cargo handling, logistics, warehouse operations, or transportation is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of cargo documentation and logistics procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors and around aircraft in various weather conditions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced airport environment and flexible work shifts.
- Experience in aircraft cargo handling or large cargo operations
- Ability to operate cargo handling equipment (forklifts, high loaders, etc.)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move heavy cargo packages.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
