Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting construction projects through data collection, analysis, and quality assurance. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse construction and inspection tasks, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The Technologist will collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and construction teams to facilitate successful project execution.
Duties
- Conduct field reviews and site inspections of building envelopes, including roofing, cladding, windows, and waterproofing systems
- Collect and document field data, including moisture readings, air leakage observations, and thermal performance assessments
- Assist in the preparation of condition assessment reports, remediation plans, and technical specifications
- Assist in the preparation of Depreciation Reports (Reserve Fund Studies) in accordance with BC Strata Property Act requirements, including component inventory, condition assessments, and lifecycle cost projections
- Conduct warranty reviews for new construction projects, including BC Housing 2-5-10 New Home Warranty coverage, deficiency identification, and coordination with builders or warranty providers
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Building Science, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Registered Engineering Technologist (RET) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC is an asset
- Familiarity with the BC Building Code and building envelope principles
- Experience with depreciation reports / reserve fund studies for strata corporations is a strong asset
- Familiarity with BC Housing 2-5-10 New Home Warranty program and Homeowner Protection Act requirements
- Ability to identify building deficiencies and assess warranty claims in a clear and documented manner
- Experience with moisture management, building enclosure systems, or construction inspection preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client interaction
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with building science software (e.g., WUFI, energy modeling tools) is a plus
- Valid BC driver's license required

Additional pay:
Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
