The opportunity:
Join our team as a LINC Instructor. The LINC Instructor will be responsible for the delivery of an English as a Second Language to eligible immigrant clients enrolled in the LINC program.
This is a Part-Time Permanent role.
In this role, you will:

- Adherence to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
- Follows the guidelines for program delivery as set out by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
- Demonstrates strong commitment to YMCA fundraising and community activities
- Represents the YMCA in a professional manner.
- Develops a program that adheres to the LINC Curriculum Guidelines.
- Ensures that the curriculum incorporates settlement material with cultural sensitivity.
- Ensures that clients are taught reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Ensures that the English language needs of clients from CLB 1 through CLB 4 are met.
- Ensures that written evaluations of all clients in the program are completed in December, March and June or as requested.
- Ensures that creative materials are developed for use in the program.
- Ensures that lesson plans are completed in advance for use of supply staff.
- Utilize the skills of volunteers working within the classroom.
- Assist in the organization of class trips.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to clients and their families.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Maintain a tidy classroom.
- Establish and maintains a positive rapport with YMCA staff, ESL students, their families and volunteers.
- Demonstrate strong support for the YMCA when representing the organization.
- Supports YMCA fundraising efforts.
- Maintain attendance of students and volunteers.
- Submit program receipts.
- Track costs on class trips.
- Assess in writing the evolving language skills of each student registered in reading, writing, listening and speaking based on CLB.
- Provide the Team Leader with the names of those students who have acquired the required proficiencies to exit the program.
- Attempt to meet the goals for student achievement and attendance as described in an annual work plan.
- Be a team player at regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Achieve goals and objectives set out in individual work plan.
You bring:
- Current TESL Ontario Certification
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including:
- AODA Training
- Health & Safety Awareness Training
- Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training
- PCI Compliance
- Child Safeguarding Orientation
- Willingness to be able to work flexible hours based on client needs
