Forward Funding is a leading alternative financing company serving small and medium-sized businesses across Canada. We’re looking for a detail-oriented and driven Underwriter / Pricer to join our growing team in Montreal.
In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing applications, analyzing bank statements and credit profiles, and structuring financing offers that align with our risk guidelines. You’ll work closely with the sales team to help get deals approved while maintaining strong credit discipline.
The Role:
Forward Funding serves the Canadian SMB Market in the Fintech space. In this role you will work closely with management and have creative independence. Using cutting edge tools you will assess the viability of a business for funding. You will also work closely with the sales team to explain your decision process and interact with our customers on a case by case basis. Key Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate incoming applications
- Analyze bank statements, cash flow, and credit reports
- Assess risk and identify key trends (NSFs, balances, revenue consistency)
- Structure and price funding offers
- Communicate decisions and conditions with the sales team
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in finance, lending, or fintech
Qualifications:
- 3+ years underwriting experience in our industry or a similar fast-paced financial services environment
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial statements, cash flow, and credit reports
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with merchants and internal teams
- Detail-oriented, decisive, and capable of managing high-volume deal flow independently
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field

1. Virtual Phone Screening
A brief 15-minute introduction with a member of our HR team via Google Meet. We’ll share more about the role, team, culture, and mission while learning about your background.
2. Second Round Phone Interview
A 20–30 minute, in-depth conversation focused on your experience and fit for the role.
3. On-Site Interview
An in-person meeting with The HR Director and Director to discuss any remaining questions and ensure alignment on the role and team.
