Roots 2 Rise Outdoors is a growing organization dedicated to fostering connections between children and the world around them. We offer year-round, outdoor exploratory programs for children ages 2 to 12 in Owen Sound, Kemble and the surrounding areas.

About the Role
As an Outdoor Educator with Roots 2 Rise Outdoors, you will plan and facilitate outdoor programs for children, embracing the beauty and challenges of all seasons and weather conditions. This position requires experience working with children, a love of the outdoors, creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Our educators play a vital role in embodying and promoting our core values of compassion, awareness, curiosity, and gratitude in all aspects of their work.
Position Details:
- Contract: Seasonal (Summer 2026, with potential for year-round opportunities)
- Program Dates and Locations:
- July 6th - August 8th: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Training dates will be provided upon hire.
- Greystone Trails, Kemble
- *Hours vary based on registrations and schedules (additional hours & weeks possible)
- Compensation:
- $20–$22/hr for Lead Educators (depending on experience and qualifications)
- $18–$20/hr for Assistant Educators (depending on experience and qualifications)
Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging, child-led, play-based, developmentally appropriate programming in outdoor settings.
- Incorporate diverse and inclusive approaches into program planning and delivery.
- Promoting the physical safety, emotional well-being, and welfare of all participants, including keeping children warm and dry in wet weather.
- Manage risks in outdoor settings and conduct dynamic risk assessments for individuals and groups..
- Plan, update, and follow up on programming.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in teaching or program facilitation (Lead Educators require a minimum of 2 years).
- Experience facilitating children’s outdoor programs in all seasons.
- Knowledge in any of the following areas: natural history/science, plant/animal identification, music, art, or mindfulness.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, hike comfortably (very large hill to access property daily), and engage actively with young children.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to complete training before start date).
- Access to a vehicle is required.
- Completion of a vulnerable sector screening required upon hire.
