Our multidisciplinary team maintains a high staff-to-participant ratio and creates personalized treatment plans to ensure that every participant receives focused interventions designed to support sustainable recovery.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at The Healing Institute (THI) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to individuals receiving mental health and addiction treatment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Nurse provides holistic, trauma-informed care to support clients' well-being and recovery. This role involves administering medications, monitoring client health, conducting assessments, and offering compassionate support to foster a safe and healing environment.
Role-Specific Accountabilities
Clinical Care and Support
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring accuracy in medication administration and documentation.
- Provide detoxification and withdrawal management support, administering medications in accordance with treatment plans.
- Monitor clients' vital signs and report any significant changes to the Nurse Manager, Medical Director or on call Medical Supervisor.
- Conduct assessments, including CIWA, COWS, PAWS, and mental status exams, developing or revising care and safety plans as needed.
- Support clients emotionally and physically through periods of dysregulation using grounding techniques and medications.
Client Engagement and Education
- Conduct nursing assessments during the admission process, gathering relevant medical history from clients.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement personalized care plans.
- Provide education to clients about their treatment plans, medications, and recovery goals, using a trauma-informed approach.
Operational and Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing interventions, observations, and progress notes.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by adhering to facility policies and responding promptly to emergencies.
- Assist with medical administrative tasks, contributing to the overall organization and efficiency of the medical department.
Qualifications
- Current licensure with the BCCNM as an LPN.
- Experience in mental health, addiction treatment, or behavioral health settings is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in detoxification and withdrawal management practices.
- Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive situations with professionalism.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
Conditions of Employment
- Successfully complete and pass a Criminal Records Review Program record check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00-$43.00 per hour
