Based at Goldboro Gold Project in Goldboro, NS, we currently have an exciting opportunity for two (2) Construction Superintendents – Civil Earthworks to join our NexGold team.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Construction Superintendent – Civil Earthworks is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the construction contractors and maintaining the project performance goals within the geographic area of responsibility. Coordinates work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced in accordance with the project schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for construction supervision and administration including supervision of contractors and their subcontractors for assigned portions of the project.
- Oversee the works performed by contractors and executed to the prescribed quality standard.
- Assists in the coordination of the design deliverables to support continuous and efficient construction.
- Communicates the identification, management and resolution of deficiencies and non-conformance.
- Assists with site administration and record keeping procedures in accordance with the Construction Execution Plan.
- Assists with construction, estimating, scheduling, cost control and reporting for all work being performed.
- Develop an operations team to execute construction site development including plant site preparation, non-process asset site preparation, road construction, and tailings site development.
- Development of time usage models, and field controls to guide operations team in the field.

- Occasional regional travel (i.e., day trips to communities surrounding the project site).

Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years in industrial/mining earthworks construction projects, pipeline corridors, lined ditching, tailings dams, structural fill applications and mass excavations.
- Leadership of larger operations team of 100+ employees and multiple contractors.
- Experience in large heavy equipment operations including site preparation, road construction, and management activities.
- Technical degree or equivalent years of supervisory experience required for a leadership position.
- Strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and lead discipline-focused site teams to successfully execute the assigned scope of work.
- Broad knowledge of the EPCM model of project delivery including the activities, interfaces, and interdependencies of all project disciplines (engineering, procurement, construction management, and other project related disciplines).
- Comprehensive knowledge and ability to practically interpret and apply good construction practice and appropriate industry standards.
- Valid unrestricted driver's license (equivalent to “Class 5” in Nova Scotia).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.

- Wage Rate: Annual salary $170,000-$185,000, dependent on incumbent's qualifications and experience. Eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentive programs.

- Travel: This is eligible for a travel allowance in accordance with NexGold’s travel-related policies and practices.
