About the Role
Reporting as part of the extended HSSE team supporting the LNG Canada Phase 2 Project, the HSSE Systems & Assurance Advisor is responsible for assessing and enhancing the effectiveness of LNG Canada's HSSE Management System, processes, and materials to ensure alignment with project and organizational requirements.
The role identifies opportunities to strengthen the implementation of the HSSE Control Framework, collaborates with the HSSE Systems Lead to develop and execute improvement plans, and works closely with LNG Canada stakeholders and the broader Shell HSSE network to implement effective processes, fit-for-purpose tools, and high-quality HSSE materials.
The Advisor serves as the custodian of the Phase 2 HSSE Assurance Strategy and supports the Construction and Fabrication teams by leading, facilitating, and coordinating assurance activities to promote compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

You will use your expertise to:
HSSE Systems Assurance & Governance
- Main HSSE focal for Project Level Assurance activities where HSSE is in scope.
- Facilitate and support the closing of findings resulting in Project level assurance activities.
- Coordinating LNGC's annual and other scheduled assurance requirements (MS audit, HSSE aspects of BAL, etc.).
- LNG Canada HSSE focal for yearly Joint Venture Partner LOD3 Audits.
- Coordinating LNGC's scheduled HSSE document reviews with document owners.
- Supporting LNGC Leadership to comply with the applicable Shell Performance Framework (PF) requirements as per the LNGC procedures.
- Track and implement HSSE changes to the Shell Performance Framework CF and incorporate changes into applicable LNGC procedures and processes.
- Liaise with HSSE Systems Advisor for the Asset in bridging applicable components of HSSE MS over to Asset.
HSSE Reporting, Data Management & Performance Monitoring
- Ensuring HSSE performance reporting is timely, accurate and of high quality.
- Oversees the updating and facilitating of the HSSE Reporting and Notification process.
- Act as focal for EPCM reporting through various internal and external incident reporting systems (GIMS, Cority, etc.).
- Provide QA/QC assurance of incident data entered into Cority.
- Liaise with IT/Digital Team for support on various applications (e.g., Power BI, JotForms, T-Pulse web hosting and administration).
Incident Management, Learning & Risk Analysis
- Work closely with LNGC's HSSE Learning and Investigations Advisor and site/fabrication personnel to analyze HSSE data, identify trends, failed barriers and behaviors.
- Participate in Incident Investigations to ensure relevant learning is obtained and communicated across the project to prevent repeat incidents.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the classification of HSSE incidents and HSSE Risk Assessment Matrix (RAM) rankings.
- Support continuous improvement through analysis of incident trends, leading indicators and lessons learned.
HSSE Program Implementation & Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate or support implementation of various aspects of LNGC's HSSE program at the project work location in Kitimat.
- Collaborate with project, site and fabrication stakeholders to support effective HSSE program execution.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of HSSE systems, reporting requirements and assurance expectations.
Continuous Improvement & Systems Integration
- Promote continual improvement of HSSE management systems, processes and assurance practices.
- Support integration, transition and alignment of HSSE management system requirements across Project and Asset organizations.
- Drive improvements in HSSE reporting tools, processes and digital solutions to enhance data quality, accessibility and decision-making.
To be successful, you will have:
- Post secondary education
- Several years of expertise in the field of HSSE in large industrial sites, petro-chemical
- 8 years experience HSSE Management Systems and HSSE performance analysis and management.
- Several years experience in HSSE in systems and assurance Experience in major project environment.
- Previous experience in HSSE Performance Reporting role(s) considered an asset.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, multi-location, major project environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to influence without authority and gain alignment from multiple organizations, management levels.
Preferred
- CRSP preferred
- Extensive knowledge of LNGC HSSE Management Systems and/or Shell SEAM StandardLean or Six Sigma training considered an asset.
- Intermediate to skill level knowledge of HSSE Reporting Systems for incident reporting.
- Knowledge of data trending systems (Power BI).
- Knowledge of contractor safety management process and contracting.
- Knowledge of Audit & Assurance process.
This role requires that you:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
- Frequent travel to Kitimat or other project locations (25-50% travel per month)
- This role is based in Calgary with regular work hours of 8hrs a day, Monday to Friday with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office, and as required by team norms.
- Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
- This role is expected to end approximately <5 Years subject to a positive FID by Q4 2026.
- Know several days of overnight travel to Kitimat on a regular basis
- This is a full-time role with benefits; this is not a contractor role.
