That is why we provide our Tutor-Mentors with resources, guidance, and ongoing mentorship to help them deliver impactful learning experiences. This flexible part-time opportunity allows you to make a meaningful difference while working around your existing schedule.
We are currently seeking Tutor-Mentors to support students who require specialized literacy intervention, including reading, spelling, phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and written language development. Experience with the Barton Reading and Spelling System is highly valued and may be required for specific student placements.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized literacy instruction using the Barton Reading and Spelling System and other evidence-based structured literacy approaches
- Support students in developing reading, spelling, phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and written language skills
- Adapt lessons to meet each student's unique learning profile, strengths, and pace
- Build positive, encouraging relationships that foster confidence, motivation, and academic growth
- Monitor student progress and communicate updates with families and the TutorBright team as needed
- Maintain consistency, professionalism, and reliability throughout the tutoring relationship
- Support students academically and emotionally as they work toward their literacy goals
Qualifications
- Experience with, training in, or certification related to the Barton Reading and Spelling System is strongly preferred
- Completed or currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Education, Psychology, Child Development, Linguistics, English, Speech-Language Pathology, Special Education, or a related field
- Experience with structured literacy, multisensory reading instruction, Orton-Gillingham-based methodologies, or dyslexia intervention is an asset
- Experience supporting students with dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia, learning disabilities, or other diverse learning needs is an asset
- Previous tutoring, teaching, educational assistant, literacy intervention, mentoring, or youth-support experience is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, organized, reliable, and able to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
- Reliable transportation is an asset for in-home tutoring opportunities
- Ability to provide, or willingness to obtain, a Vulnerable Sector Check & Child Abuse Registry
Hours
Sessions are scheduled based on student demand and your availability. This is a flexible, part-time position with opportunities available during evenings and weekends. Additional hours may become available as new student matches are made.
