About Last Door Recovery Society:
LDRS is a registered Canadian charity, nonprofit recovery community providing trauma-informed, social-model, bed-based treatment. We are hiring Support Workers to provide frontline care, supervision, and support to clients in our 10-bed Last Door Youth Program (male youth, ages 14–18), a safe, structured, restraint-free environment.
The Support Worker provides day-to-day frontline care, supervision, and support to youth clients in our bed-based therapeutic community. Working as part of a team and following program routines, the Support Worker helps maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment, supports clients through the daily program, and responds to needs and concerns using a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach.
Responsibilities
● Provide direct support and supervision to clients throughout the daily program.
● Facilitate or support community meetings, groups, activities, and routines.
● Use trauma-informed, positive behaviour support and verbal de-escalation.
● Complete shift notes, incident reports, and required documentation.
Qualifications:
● Post-secondary education in a human-services field (e.g., social work, addictions, community support), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Experience supporting individuals in recovery, mental health, or social-services settings.
● Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
● Comfortable using basic computer systems for shift notes and incident documentation.
● Ability to work shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and awake overnights.
● Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
● Satisfactory criminal-record check (including vulnerable-sector check).
● Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Preferred
● Training in trauma-informed care, non-violent crisis intervention/de-escalation, or mental health first aid.
● Experience in a bed-based, social-model, or therapeutic-community environment.
● Naloxone / overdose-response training.
Working Conditions:
Shift work, days, evenings, nights and weekends.
