Security Guard - Full Time - Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital
Site Description: Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is part of Halton Healthcare’s network of three progressive community hospitals serving over 350,000 residents across Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.
Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, 3001 Hospital Gate, Oakville, ON L6M 0L8
Hours: Continental Rotating (0700-1900/ 1900-0700 hrs)
Payrate:

$19.63/hr – $22.09/hr, based on the levelling system.

Starting rate: Level 3 at $21.17/hr.

Training Requirement: All Level 3 training must be completed within 8 months.

If training is not completed within this timeframe, the pay rate will be adjusted to the appropriate level based on completed requirements.
Overtime Eligibility: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Key responsibilities:

Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits.

Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.

Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.

Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.

Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
Requirements:

A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
-
Proficient in English (both oral and written)
-
Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services would be an asset

Previous one year experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.

Proof of double Covid Vaccination

Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)

Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification

Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test

Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)

Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Legally authorized to work in Canada
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
