About Aux Crochets
Aux Crochets is a French-inspired fine dining restaurant opening in Grand Bend. We're creating an elevated dining experience rooted in precision, hospitality, and storytelling. Our 65-seat restaurant celebrates classical French technique with seasonal, local ingredients, paired with thoughtful wine and cocktail programs. We're looking for servers who are passionate about guest experience, menu knowledge, and collaborative service in a fast-paced, high-touch environment.
The Role
As a Server at Aux Crochets, you are the face of our hospitality. You'll guide guests through their dining journey, execute flawless service, and create memorable moments. You'll work closely with the kitchen, bar, and FOH team to deliver precision service in a fine dining setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Welcome & Seating: Greet guests warmly, understand their preferences, and set the tone for their experience
- Menu Mastery: Know our menu deeply—ingredients, techniques, origins, allergens, wine pairings—and communicate with confidence and storytelling
- Service Execution: Deliver precise, choreographed service: water service, order taking, plate presentation, clearing, pacing, and attention to detail
- Upsell & Suggestive Selling: Recommend wine, cocktails, and menu items thoughtfully; drive revenue without being pushy
- Pacing & Timing: Read the table, communicate with the kitchen and bar, and orchestrate timing so every course lands perfectly
- Wine & Beverage Knowledge: Understand our wine program, cocktail menu, and pairing philosophy; guide guests confidently
- Problem-Solving: Handle special requests, dietary needs, and guest concerns with grace and professionalism
- Teamwork & Communication: Support other servers, bussers, and runners; call out timing; adapt to the flow of service
- Cleanliness & Standards: Maintain impeccable table standards, polishing glassware, resetting between courses, and keeping your station organized
- Opening & Closing: Prepare your station, set tables, polish glassware, and close out your section professionally
- Feedback & Growth: Embrace feedback, learn from each service, and continuously refine your craft
What We're Looking For
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of fine dining or upscale casual service experience
- Proficiency with French dining terminology and service techniques
- Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, or beverage programs
- Comfort with point-of-sale (POS) systems
Essential Qualities:
- Hospitality: Genuine warmth, attentiveness, and desire to create memorable experiences
- Precision: You care about details—timing, plating, table settings, guest preferences
- Teamwork: You communicate clearly, support your teammates, and prioritize collective success
- Composure: You stay calm under pressure, handle difficult situations gracefully, and maintain poise during service
- Reliability: You show up on time, every time. Consistency is non-negotiable in fine dining.
- Adaptability: You read the room, adjust your pace, and respond to guest needs with flexibility
- Pride in Craft: You take genuine pride in hospitality and see service as an art form
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with French cuisine or classical service techniques
- Knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and food pairings
- Experience in Michelin-starred or award-winning restaurants
- Bilingual (French/English)
- Sommelier certification or wine training
Schedule
- Service-based schedule: lunch, dinner and late night
- Flexibility for seasonal adjustments, special events, and winter service reductions
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly wage (market-based, negotiable based on experience)
- Opportunity to work in a newly built, state-of-the-art fine dining restaurant
- Mentorship from an experienced hospitality leadership team
- A collaborative culture that values precision, growth, and genuine hospitality
