Job Summary:
The Project Development Manager – Mechanical/HVAC is responsible for managing client relationships, identifying and developing new business opportunities, while assisting the operation team in ensuring successful delivery of Mechanical and HVAC projects. This role bridges technical expertise in both Mechanical and HVAC systems along with strong customer relationship management, ensuring clients receive effective Mechanical and HVAC solutions while driving revenue growth for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for assigned Mechanical-HVAC accounts, fostering long-term client relationships and ensuring satisfaction
- Conduct regular client check-ins, site visits, and performance reviews
- Identify opportunities to expand Mechanical & HVAC service offerings and develop tailored proposal, quotes and presentations.
- Support contract negotiations, RFP responses, and bid submissions.
- Collaborate with technicians, project managers, estimators, and engineers to ensure successful, on-spec project delivery
- Coordinate schedules, deliverables, and resource planning across internal teams.
- Apply strong knowledge of Mechanical systems (HVAC, VRV/VRV, chillers, boilers, air handlers, controls, ventilation systems, piping, plumbing, fire protection, or industrial equipment.
- Provide technical guidance, system recommendations, energy-saving strategies and lifecycle insights.
- Work with technical teams to develop solutions for client challenges.
- Track account performance, revenue forecasts, and profitability
- Manage client contracts, renewals, pricing adjustments, and service agreements; ensure accurate invoicing and financial close out
- Maintain accurate CRM records, reports, and documentation.
- Prepare sales reports, pipeline forecasts, and client updates for leadership
- Monitor HVAC industry trends, market conditions, competitor offerings, and pricing to support sales strategy
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Business, or related field; relevant HVAC trade certifications (313A, G1/G2) an asset
- 3–7+ years of experience in mechanical contracting, HVAC, industrial systems, or technical sales
- Background in managing service contracts, HVAC installations, retrofits, or building automation projects
- Proven account management skills and successful deliver of mechanical/HVA projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical/HVAC systems, drawings, codes and construction processes.
- Skilled in communication, negotiation, client management and interpreting mechanical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management software
- Proficient with CRM platforms, MS Office, estimating tools, and project management software.
- Able to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
- Valid driver’s license for field travel
- Technically inclined with willingness to learn advanced Mechanical and HVAC technologies.

The salary range is $100,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. The base salary is just one component of GDI Ainsworth’s total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards and benefits such as short-term incentives and health insurance, among others.
