Insight Global is looking for a Foreman to support one of Canada's leading construction organizations across Alberta and Northern British Columbia. This individual will be responsible for leading field operations on commercial, institutional, and building construction projects while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The Foreman will oversee crews, coordinate subcontractors and trades, manage daily site activities, and work closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to maintain project schedules and deliver successful outcomes.
The successful candidate will bring strong leadership experience from commercial construction environments and have a proven track record supporting projects such as schools, fire halls, pools, commercial buildings, high-rise developments, banks, and other institutional facilities.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage crews, maintain productivity, enforce safety standards, and ensure quality workmanship throughout all phases of construction.
The Foreman will be responsible for daily planning and coordination of work, monitoring progress against project schedules, leading site safety initiatives, supervising carpenters and subcontractors, and resolving construction challenges as they arise. This position is eligible for overtime and operates primarily on active construction sites with a standard schedule beginning at 7:00 AM.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of construction experience with at least 2+ years in a Foreman, Lead Hand, Working Foreman, or similar supervisory role
- Experience leading crews on commercial, institutional, or building construction projects
- Proven experience with projects such as schools, fire halls, pools, commercial buildings, high-rise developments, banks, or other institutional facilities
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, site coordination, and day-to-day field operations
- Experience supervising trades, subcontractors, and self-perform construction crews
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and commitment to maintaining a safe job site
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent trade background
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or institutional construction projects valued at $10M+
- High-rise construction experience
- Experience with concrete structures, building envelope, and interior finishing scopes
- First Aid certification
- Experience using construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
- Previous experience mentoring apprentices, junior carpenters, or emerging site leaders
- Experience coordinating mechanical, electrical, and specialty trade contractors
- Exposure to Design-Build, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), or collaborative construction delivery models
- Experience working on healthcare or other highly regulated institutional construction projects
Pay: $39.00-$50.00 per hour
