Position Summary
The Railing Installer is responsible for the professional installation of exterior railing systems, for residential, commercial, and multi-family construction projects. This role requires technical skill, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work safely at height and in varying site conditions. Travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities Installation
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and installation specifications
- Measure, cut, drill, and assemble railing components with precision
- Install post bases, handrails, balusters, top rails, and trim components
- Secure railings to concrete, wood, steel, and masonry substrates using appropriate anchoring methods
- Install cable railing systems including swaging, tensioning, and termination hardware
- Install glass panel railing systems including frameless and post-and-panel designs
- Complete touch-ups, caulking, and finishing work to ensure professional appearance
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols at all times
- Ensure all installations comply with applicable building codes (IBC, IRC) and ADA requirements
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) including harnesses when working at height
- Inspect work areas for hazards before beginning each task
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings
Quality & Site Management
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications
- Coordinate with general contractors, site supervisors, and other trades on the job site
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout each project
- Accurately document time, materials used, and any issues or change orders
- Report damaged, defective, or incorrect materials to the supervisor immediately
Equipment & Tools
- Operate power tools including drills, grinders, saws, and impact drivers safely
- Use measuring and leveling instruments, including laser levels and transit levels
- Maintain, clean, and inspect tools and equipment regularly
- Load, transport, and unload materials and equipment as required
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 2 years of experience in railing installation, carpentry, or related trade
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Preferred
- Experience with cable railing, glass railing, or ornamental iron systems
- Experience working on commercial or multi-family construction projects
