Job Summary:
A Labourer/Framer is responsible for assisting with residential and commercial construction projects by performing general labour duties and constructing structural frameworks according to building plans and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct and assemble wood and steel framing for residential and commercial buildings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction specifications.
- Measure, cut, and install lumber, plywood, and other building materials accurately.
- Build walls, floors, roofs, stairs, and temporary structures.
- Install floor joists, roof trusses, and wall panels.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials around the job site.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow workplace health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with demolition, site preparation, and cleanup as required.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, carpenters, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Identify and report safety hazards or material shortages.
- Perform other general construction labour duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of residential and commercial framing techniques.
- Ability to read measuring tapes and construction plans.
- Experience using hand and power tools safely.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (50 lbs/23 kg or more).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and safe work practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction, framing, or general labour.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Working at Heights certification (preferred).
- WHMIS and First Aid/CPR certification (asset).
Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
