About the Uxbridge Youth Centre
The Uxbridge Youth Centre is a free drop-in centre that provides youth ages 11+ with a safe, supervised, and welcoming space to connect with peers, participate in engaging activities, and build positive relationships throughout the summer.
Position Summary
The Uxbridge Youth Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Program Facilitator to lead our Summer Sports & Recreation Program. This position will focus on providing fun, inclusive, and engaging sports and outdoor recreational activities that encourage youth to stay active, build confidence, develop new skills, and foster positive social connections.
The successful candidate will plan and facilitate a variety of sports, games, and recreational activities for youth ages 11+, creating an environment where all participants feel welcome regardless of experience or skill level. Programming may include activities such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, swimming, field games, and other outdoor recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate weekly sports and recreation programs for youth ages 11+.
- Lead a variety of outdoor sports, games, and physical activities throughout the summer.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages participation and positive youth development.
- Teach basic rules, skills, and strategies for a variety of sports and recreational activities.
- Adapt activities to accommodate different ages, abilities, and skill levels.
- Supervise participants and ensure adherence to safety guidelines and program expectations.
- Set up, maintain, and store sports equipment and program materials.
- Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, and positive social interactions among participants.
- Track attendance and assist with program evaluation activities as required.
- Communicate effectively with youth, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience working with youth in recreational, educational, camp, coaching, or community settings is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of a variety of sports, games, and physical activities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage youth from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.
- A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required prior to employment (can be obtained following the interview process).
