The Role
We're looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our crew. You'll be operating a range of heavy equipment on active job sites across the Halifax area, working alongside a team that knows what they're doing and expects the same from you. This isn't a one-trick role, we need someone who can jump in the seat and then jump out and get their hands dirty when the job calls for it.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, graders, and/or compactors safely and efficiently on active job sites
- Utilize GPS and laser equipment to achieve precise grading and grade results
- Perform backfilling, compaction, and ground restoration as part of daily site work
- Execute earthworks, grading, excavation, and site preparation tasks to spec and on schedule
- Follow site plans, grade stakes, and supervisor direction to deliver accurate, quality results
- Assist with site setup, tear down, cleaning, and material handling as needed
- Work alongside ground crew, labourers, and other trades on site
- Perform pre and post shift inspections and basic preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Identify and communicate equipment issues, site hazards, or safety concerns immediately
- Maintain a clean work area and follow all company and OH&S safety standards
- Represent Captivated Construction professionally on every job site
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment
- Comfortable switching between equipment operation and physical labour throughout the day
- Experience with GPS and laser grading equipment is a strong asset
- Self-sufficient on site, you know your machines and don't need babysitting to get the job done
- Valid driver's license required
- Equipment tickets are a strong asset
