About the Role
Captivated Construction is a growing construction company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We specialize in excavation, landscaping, and hardscaping, and we're building a crew of skilled tradespeople who take their work seriously.
We're hiring an experienced Landscape Lead Hand & Operator to take on a senior field role. You'll lead day-to-day site work, operate equipment, and help guide a small crew to deliver quality results. This is the role for someone who knows the industry, works independently, and is ready to step up.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the crew on landscaping, hardscaping, and excavation projects
- Operating compact and mid-size excavation equipment (mini excavators, skid steers, etc.)
- Coordinating daily site work and keeping projects on track
- Ensuring quality standards are met on every job
- Mentoring and directing labourers on-site
- Communicating with project management on progress and any site issues
- Maintaining equipment and flagging any maintenance needs
- Upholding a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism
What We're Looking For
- 1 to 3 years of experience in landscaping, hardscaping, and/or excavation
- Proven ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience in a lead hand, foreman, or senior labourer role is an asset
- Strong knowledge of landscaping and hardscaping practices and materials
- Dependable, professional, and able to problem-solve on the fly
- Valid driver's licence required; equipment certifications are an asset
Compensation & Details
- $23 to $26 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Full-time, with year-round potential for the right candidate
- Halifax, NS and surrounding areas
- Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime
